"D" is no longer a fail! What? Tell that to the parents of a child who brought home a report full of "D" grades! I'd darn well see it as a complete and utter "FAIL". But am I allowed? Maybe I'm not allowed to give my child "the look" of disappointment?

In Megan's last year in high school, after years and years of being near the top in all her classes, we got a letter to say she was failing in French and "must do better".

This was half way through her FINAL year and everything was going toward her final grade!

WHAT!!!!? This is the subject she was awarded for the BEST EVER GRADES the school had ever seen just a few months earlier. So what happened? The teachers stopped pushing. Stopped challenging her. So she became "average" in her final year. I spoke to (I mean diplomatically "FUMED") at the head teacher and we had a meeting...

She wasn't anywhere near failing at all! Yes she hadn't been as "brilliant" as previous years at all. The teacher had "mentioned" that Megan could be doing better and we got the letter - very upsetting as we glanced at the award on the shelf!

That was a failing of the school. Megan had become unchallenged and she has demonstrated she needs to be challenged. The school knew she needed to be challenged. Had she been challenged consistently she would likely ended her last year with a similar award but she ended up with a "B" which, all things considered, was rather upsetting.

The school let her down in her last year.

Sorry for going on a bit, Vicki.

Hi Stacey, thanks for that! Shame. I'll go in and update the article. Is there something else you think tourists should see instead of the bra fence?
